Thanksgiving Walk 2025: Bringing Our Tradition Back to London Again

Miss Annie Kwong (former teacher)

To keep our traditional Thanksgiving Walk alive, around 20 alumnae, family members, and former teachers gathered together for a walk through Greenwich Park on 22 November 2025 (Saturday).  This was also the day when our Ying Wa alumnae walked up the Peak in Hong Kong.

At around 1:30 pm, we met outside the National Maritime Museum, from where we strolled through Greenwich Park towards the historic Prime Meridian line.  As we all reached the 0 longitude marker, our alumni shared their Geography knowledge, explaining how the Prime Meridian divides the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.  Standing with one foot in the East and one in the West, we couldn’t help looking back at our fond memories and treasured values, and reflected on how we carry them all the way to the UK.  Though separated by thousands of miles from our alma mater, we know that our Ying Wa spirit always draws us closer together.

A leisurely stroll with joy and laughter

As we all know, weather in the UK can be quite unstable, especially in November.  Though it was a bit chilly and windy, we were so thankful that the rain held off only until the moment we finished our journey.  We are truly blessed, as everything just clicked into place for us.

In addition to the walk, the London Chapter organised a Ying Wa hoodie sale.  It was touching to see our alumnae placing their orders.  Our Ying Wa hoodie is a poignant reminder of our close bond.  So, the next time you spot someone wearing a hoodie with our school song lyric ‘身遠心莫離’ printed on the back, remember to greet them with a warm smile!

For every Ying Wa girl, the Thanksgiving Walk is not only a joyful stroll with schoolmates and teachers, it is also a nostalgic journey back to our good old days.  We look forward to seeing many more familiar faces at our walk next year.  Let’s keep our Ying Wa spirit shining and thriving!
