To Ying Wa, with Love

Latest News of YW Melbourne Community

In Melbourne we have a small group of six to seven Ying Wa alumnae, including Ms Cheung King Fong ('57) and Mrs Winifred Ip ('73), that meet three to four times a year for lunch.

With new Ying Wa arrivals, we connect with them to enable them to feel “at home.”  In between times, we keep in touch with emails or phone calls.  The recent relaxing of some of the COVID rules has made socialising easier and more enjoyable.

Connected Across Miles

We keep up with the school activities through the overseas edition of the alumnae newsletter.  We were greatly saddened by the recent passing of Miss Kwan Yeuk Laan.  She was my Geography teacher for three years during junior high school.  She impressed me as a good and caring teacher.

We keep a close eye on Hong Kong’s COVID situation too.  I pay tribute to the workers in health care, education, business, the travel industry, the public service and the COVID testing staff - all who have to toil through a very challenging time.

With a Thankful Heart

Last but not the least, I appreciated a phone call of thanks from Mr Francis Kwan for my donation to the school.  That was a small token of gratitude for my 11 years in Ying Wa which gave me the firm Christian educational foundation in life.

To readers of this newsletter, may you have the knowledge of the grace and love of God, have a bright today with much to be thankful for and an appreciation of all the wonderful people and things around you.
